The 15th of August came and the 15th of August passed and a service was not held at Panagia Soumela in Trabzon for the first time since 2010.
Before you rush to blame Turkey and the temeteron(famous Romeika word for “our” based on “to imeteron” ancient greek) Erdoğan, it would be good to think about what the Pontos lobby did to cause the interrupt of the 14-year-long liturgy by Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew at Panagia Sumela of Trebizond and now they are crying and protesting like an innocent virgin while they did their bullshits to be honest.
Why the Pontos lobby, one month before the celebration of the fifteenth of August, when all Pontians are waiting for a live broadcast of the patriarchal liturgy from our Motherland Pontus and while we are in exile of Greece for over of 100 years, they involved the Pontos youth with the halloumi of Cyprus which is completely foreign to us?
Wasn’t our destruction in the previous century due to Greek Nationalism enough? What exactly does the Pontian lobby finally want? And whose lobby is it in the end? because it only harms the Pontians to tell you the truth.
I have reached to the point where the agenda of the Pontos lobby no longer concerns me, neither the personalities that make it up, nor their followers. Because this agenda of the Pontos lobby has become a sponge for Greek Nationalism and the interests of the Greek government. Crooked, lame in Agios Panteleimonas as the folk wisdom in Greece use to say.
The stateless will save every downtrodden of the earth
After all, this is what we have been doing for a century, fighting to save other people’s land from our exile. Only our own homeland was imposed on us to forget, and to be happy with the 2 lines of Pontos Genocide recognition in order to make it a frame on our wall.
The fact that we are alive and in fact more(but well mixed in Greece’s blender) than a century ago we don’t even mention it, we have stuck in the genocide and the memorials. This is our limit when we’re not dancing around statues in Greek squares.
Well done to Erdogan for his intervention. I support him. For the rest, halloumi is offered to get the poison down. Because as the wise people say, whoever jumps a lot of hoops gets one in his ass.
At some point the Pontos lobby will have to decide whose people’s interests it serves and if nothing else, to use different name to not harm the Pontos people.
